Profile

NSD glass presents a variety of glass products used for diverse applications in the field of Architecture and Structural engineering. Glass is no longer the fragile material that it was some time back. The material is extremely strong and easy to work with, leading to opportunities that were previously not possible in the world of structural engineering. The use of this structural glass result is an aesthetically superior material that is attractive and cost effective. The outstanding finish of the material lends to a premium appearance to any building. The glass area adds lots of smooth, attractive and shiny surface to the building.

Architectural glass is glass that is used as a building material. It is most typically used as transparent glazing material in the building envelope, including windows in the external walls. Glass is also used for internal partitions and as an architectural feature. When used in buildings, glass is often of a safety type, which include reinforced, toughened, heat strengthened and laminated glasses.

The versatility of structural glass has lent to its creative use. Not only could the material be applied to both the exterior and interior, the glass can be sculptured, cut, laminated, curved, colored, textured, and illuminated. Apart from use in new constructions, the glass can be applied directly over existing architecture to remodel older buildings.

Glass Types

Tempered.Glass
This has been available to the architectural marketplace for many years and is surpassed in volume only by annealed glass. It has been used traditionally in commercial applications where wind, snow or thermal loads exceeds the strength capabilities of heat strengthened glass and in situations where tempered glass is mandated by code, i.e. safety glazing for entranceway,
railings, partitions of fire knocks-out.windows.Tempered glass can be used in glass balustrades, escalator side panels, handrails, shower screens, bathtub enclosures, sliding and swing doors, automobiles, furniture and interior decoration, glass tables showcases, partitions etc.

Insulated.Glass.&.Glazed.Glass

A variant of this family is the insulated glass which offers superior barrier to the atmosphere temperatures. Such glass depends on the thermal barriers to keep the building hot or cold as desired by the occupants.

NSD can offer glass with a variety of glazed finish with multiple layers to improve the retention properties of glass. Thus the building rejects the atmospheric temperature and keeps the building hot or cold as desired by the occupants. Glazing depends on the reflective or tinting to reduce the thermal conductivity. While the glazing reduces the transparency of the glass while looking for outside into the building, this effect is largely in one direction as the occupants can be provided with a clear vision while looking outside.

Laminated.Glass

This glass is treated with additional processes that increase the strength and safety without losing the basic properties. Instead of using a single 12mm sheet of glass, we can use two sheets of 6mm laminated glass. During processing, various colors and shades can be created by using different Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) films or other decorative materials. The glass can also be totally transparent and clear of color if desired by the client. Basic aim of this process is both sheets of glass would not break at the same time. Thus one sheet supports the other and thus give an opportunity to replace it without causing damage. This is true, especially in high rise buildings. This type of glass blocks the transfer of heat and is very energy efficient. It is used where huge difference in temperature exist, such as inside and outside of a building.

NSD Advantage

Transparency

The tempering process allows the glass to have superior light transmission and solar radiant heat properties of the glass. The glass allows external light at the same time preventing the atmospheric temperature from affecting the building interiors - leading to significant savings of lighting and air conditioning costs.

Usability
The tempered glass cannot be further cut, ground, drilled or worked upon due to its inherent toughness. However NSD has the infrastructure to do all these operations to your requirement before the tempering process. The result is that you get exactly what you desire. This allows the architects and building designers to be more creative than with conventional materials.

Strength
The glass is toughened and is four to five times stronger than its equivalent thickness of normal sheet glass. Thus the tempered glass can be used for any external or internal applications.

High Thermal Strength
The tempered glass is strong enough to withstand any temperature differentials, thus can be used in outsides of buildings, even when subject to the extremes of weather.

Safety
The tempered glass is very difficult by normal means. Even when subjected to extreme forces, the glass would break into small, relatively harmless fragments.

Insulation
This property of glass allows full transparency, yet prevents the building’s environment interacting with the atmosphere. Apart from the thermal insulation, glass makes an excellent material to isolate sounds leaving the cacophony outside while creating whisper quiet interiors for efficient use by the occupants.

Bottero make ‘Jumbo’ EVO glass-cutting line imported from Italy. NSD is only group in India to own this big size Bottero cutting machine. With this machine, we can handle cut glass size of 4100 x 6100 mm with a cutting speed of approximately 170 Square Meter/Hour of glass that can have a thickness between 2 mm to 22 mm.

European make horizontal tempering line with a capacity to produce clear and Low-E glass from 4 mm to 19 mm thickness with a maximum size of 2300 x 3600 mm. This machine has a production capacity of 124 square meter/hour with 0.02 emmisivity property of glass.

DGU Line imported from Europe capable of insulating 2500 x 3600 mm glass sheets with a ‘Four Step Press’ facility. The machine has a production capacity of approximately 100 square meters/hour.
Laminating machine capable of producing Bullet Proof glass. The machine can also produce all the domestic or interior and exterior requirement of laminated glass with maximum sheet size 2440 x 3600 mm.

We also offer automatic ceramic printing with using roller coating, silkscreen printing and digital printing with a ‘direct on glass’ process

Apart from the specific glass working machinery, we have an array of regular CNC and other machines for cutting, grinding, drilling, cutouts, etching, sand blasting, engraving, shaping, beveling, engraving ,bending, fusing and frosting. These wide variety of machine allow us perform all types of operations on glass.
