Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced that a Quantum Computing Centre in Amaravati will become operational by 01 January, 2026, marking a key step in building Quantum Valley modeled after Silicon Valley in the US. Backed by IBM, TCS, and L&T, the initiative aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a global hub for Quantum and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Speaking at the Amaravati Quantum Valley Workshop-2025, jointly organised with IBM, TCS, and L&T, Naidu stressed that the state will deliver 100 use cases by August 15, 2026, and become a “key player” in the global quantum movement. He highlighted the State’s talent pool in IT and mathematics and noted plans to deliver 100 percent of government services via WhatsApp.
Minister for IT Nara Lokesh revealed that Amaravati will soon house IBM-2 Quantum Computer with 156 qubits, a first in South Asia. He emphasised the need for a quantum-ready workforce and updated curriculum in premier institutes like IITs. Officials from DST, ISRO, and academia praised the alignment with the National Quantum Mission, while IBM and TCS reaffirmed their support for India's quantum ecosystem.
