The Chhattisgarh Government has renewed the MoU it had signed for setting up a mega steel plant in Bastar region for the third time. Now, the MoU has been renewed till 2014.
The company is setting up a 5.5 million tpa greenfield integrated steel plant in Lohandiguda area of Bastar district of the state. In June 2005, the company had signed an MoU with the state government which was valid for three years. In 2008, the MoU was renewed for two years and later it was extended for another two years as the state government failed to give possession of land to the company after acquiring it from the villagers. The state government is in process of taking possession of the land from the villagers and hand it over to the company. The company would require 2,044 ha for setting up the steel plant.
