Connaught Plaza Restaurants (CPRL), the master franchiser for McDonald's in India’s north and east regions, plans to invest up to USD 150 million (Rs 1,280.7 crore) over the next three to four years for expansion of its quick service restaurant network.
The company aims to increase its store count from 245 to 300 by the end of this year, with further plans to double the number of stores in the next three to four years. Anant Agarwal, Vice Chairman of MMG Group & CPRL, revealed that CPRL intends to expand McCafe, McDonald's in-restaurant café brand, from 125 outlets to 200 by year-end. The Group, which acquired CPRL in 2020, is modernizing existing stores to the “Experience of the Future” (EOTF) format. Additionally, CPRL is focusing on smaller-format stores in emerging tier III and lower-tier cities.
By the end of this year, CPRL plans to surpass 300 stores, with projections of 500 to 600 stores by 2030. "The potential and the opportunity are huge," Vice Chairman- MMG Group & CPRL Anant Agarwal stated. The company’s expansion includes new stores in Delhi NCR, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, as well as new markets in cities like Gangtok, Siliguri, and Guwahati.
