The Central Government is planning to invite bids soon for laying power transmission lines worth over Rs 6,900 crore.
The Ministry of Power has asked state-run Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation to invite bids for eight transmission lines worth Rs 3,000 crore. REC is also conducting bidding for another Rs 3,900 crore transmission projects. Companies like PGCIL, Tata Power, Lanco Infra, L&T Transco, GMR Energy, Gammon India, Patel Engineering Simplex Infrastructures, JSW Energy, CESC and Soma will bid for the projects. Foreign companies like Spains Isolux Corsan and Instalaciones Inabensa have also been eyeing an entry into the Indian power transmission space. The contracts include setting up transmission lines and strengthening network connecting power generation projects in states like Bihar, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and HP with national grid.
