The Central Government is planning to set up seven IIITs (International Institute of Information Technology) in various states in the next academic year.
All these institutes are to be set up in PPP mode. Of the seven, one institute slated to come up in Hyderabad has received nod from the Central Cabinet and Planning Commission. The Ministry of Human Resources Development will provide 50 per cent of the costs to set up the institutes while the respective states will contribute 35 per cent and the remaining would come from the private players.
