The Gujarat Government has given nod for development of Nargol port in Gujarat.

The project is estimated cost Rs 2,000 crore. The proposed multi-purpose greenfield port is expected to get advantage of excess traffic flow at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Mumbai. With the state nod, the procedure for environmental clearances will begin.

In early 2012, a consortium of Cargo Motor and Israel Port Co had won the bid to develop the multi purpose port. The consortium plans to develop a container terminal there and it could explore option for a Ro-Ro (roll on-roll off) facility in future. The port will have an estimated 3-5 million tonne of cargo handling capacity annually, including solid, liquid and cargo containers.
