JSW Steel is planning to set up a steel plant in Kendrapara district in Orissa.
The proposed port-based plant will be set up with an investment of Rs 15,000 crore. After completion of aerial survey of the possible sites, the company has found a suitable site in Kendrapara. The capacity of the project is at the exploratory stage. It may be three million tonne or ten million tonne, depending on the location and other infrastructure advantages.
Meanwhile, around seven companies, including Essel Mining & Industries, have proposed to set up iron beneficiation and pellet plants while TS Alloys has proposed to set up a ferro-alloy project in Anantapur in Cuttack district. The Container Corporation of India (Concor), has proposed to set up a multi-modal logistics park in Jajpur district, near the Kalinganagar industrial area.
