A 4,000 MW ultra mega green solar power project is proposed to be set up near Sambhar Lake, near Jaipur in Rajasthan.
It is being developed in phases over 23,000 acre. Phase-I of the project, with 1,000 MW capacity, is expected to be commissioned by December 2016.
Phase-I is expected to be implemented through a joint venture (JV) company to be formed with equity participation from BHEL, Solar Energy Corporation of India, Power Grid Corporation of India, SJVN, Sambhar Salts, and Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments. Based on the experience gained during implementation of the first phase of the project, the remaining capacity will be implemented through a variety of models.
Once the entire project is fully commissioned, it will generate 6,000 million units of power per annum. The project will supply power to the distribution companies of various states through the National Grid.
