The MoEF has cleared the execution of the 450-MW Baglihar-II hydroelectric project in Jammu & Kashmir.
The J&K State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) would complete the project on the scheduled time. The state government has secured the fund of Rs 1,679.23 crore and Rs 500 crore respectively from PFC and JK Bank for the Baglihar-II project coming up at a cost of Rs 3,113.19 crore.
The run of the river project coming up in district Ramban on River Chenab is likely to generate about 1,300 million units of power per annum. The project involves two types of works-civil and electromechanical, which are being executed by New Delhi based Jayprakash for civil and Voith Hydro for electro-mechanical works. The project is slated to be ready in 2015-16. The Unit I of 150MW is expected to go on stream in June 2015. The dam built for Baglihar-I would also be used for the Phase II of the power project.
