Great Eastern Energy Corporation (GEECL) has received environmental clearance from the MoEF for its Mannargudi Coal Bed Methane (CBM) block in Tamil Nadu.
The company has received environmental clearance for its CBM block with an estimated 0.98 trillion cubic feet of gas. It will commence with 30 pilot production wells and 50 core holes at the 667 sq km Mannargudi block which was awarded to it under CBM IV round. GEECL has already signed a production sharing contract with the state government in 2010 and sought two petroleum exploration licences.
Currently, the company is holding discussion with the state government for the other required approvals.
