ABB wins order from Hyundai Steel Company in South Korea
17 August 2011: ABB won an order from Hyundai Steel Company (HSC) to supply the drive system for the extension of its existing heavy plate mill in the Chungnam province of South Korea. The integrated mill produces high-quality automotive and shipbuilding steel plates.
The expansion will significantly increase HSC’s production capacity. The mill, which currently produces 1.5 million tonne of steel plates per year, will increase its annual capacity to 2.0 million tons and expand its product range. It is scheduled to start operation at the end of 2013.
