Akai Energy plans manufacturing base in India
28 January 2010: Akai Energy India is mulling to set up a manufacturing base in India during 2010-11 financial year.
According to sources, a revenue level of Rs 250 crore is likely to be the criterion for starting manufacturing Akai batteries in India. It has currently invested about Rs 200 crore for marketing and sales operations of the entire range of energy products in India. On 27 January 2010, the company launched four batteries –– Zinc Chloride, Alkaline, Rechargable and Ready-to-use (pre charged) batteries and a range of chargers under the Phase I. The company also plans to add LED products and CFL lamps to the product range in second and third quarters of the next fiscal year.
