Fukushima treatment plant is to Tests soon
15 June 2011: Fukushima Daiichi, Japan based nuclear power plant is to begin active testing on a facility to treat and store contaminated water.
Japan's nuclear regulator, Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) approved plans for the facility to treat and store water contaminated with highly concentrated radioactive materials as an emergency measure. Effort has been made to process 12,000 cubic mtrs of contaminated water per day. Temporarily, Mega-Float, a 136 mtrs long steel barge, arrived at the site in May 2011 to store some 10,000 tonne of pending contaminated water treatment.
