Mazda to set up plant in Mexico

18 June 2011: Japanese based Mazda Motor Corp with the Sumitomo Corp, trading company builds $500 million (approx. 2275 crore) factory in Mexico which will have an output capacity of 140,000 vehicles of per annum.

The company will start production in 2013 and will build the Mazda2 and Mazda3 compact cars, engines, at the new site, in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato .The factory will have an output capacity of 140,000 vehicles of per annum. Mazda will own 70 percent of the joint venture plant, while Sumitomo will hold 30 percent.
