Minor Food Group plans India foray
2 December 2009: Thailand based Minor Food Group is planning to enter in India and plans to bring three of its major brands of ice-cream, pizza and café by June 2010.
The company, which owns the ‘Swensen’s’ brand of ice- cream chain along with fast food brand ‘The Pizza Company’ and coffee chain ‘The Coffee Club’, plans to set up operations in India through the franchise route.
The company has roped in a master franchisee for Swensen’s in India and the first restaurant is likely to be opened in Bangalore by June 2010. Plans are afoot to open one new Swensen’s (outlet) every month in India.
Besides, the company is likely to start Indian operations of two of its other brands-The Pizza Hut and The Coffee House - by the December 2010.
