Nexans secures power cable contract for Petrofac’s Turkmenistan gas field project
7 September 2011: Nexans has secured the power cable contract for Petrofac’s Turkmenistan gas field project. The company will contribute to the safety and reliability of Petrofac’s new processing plant serving the South Yoloten gas field by delivering over 1,800 km of specialized, armoured and hydrocarbon resistant, low voltage (LV)power cables.
The South Yoloten gas field, sited around 400 km southeast of Ashgabat, the country’s capital city, ranks among the world’s top five largest gas reserves. When the development project is completed, from 2013 onwards it is expected to export 20 million cubic metres per annum (bcma) of gas.
