Ranbaxy bows out of Nippon JV in Japan
10 December 2009: Ranbaxy Laboratories and Nippon Chemiphar (NC) have reportedly dissolved their JV Nihon Pharmaceutical Industry (NPI) in Japan.
As per an agreement between the two companies, NC is expected to purchase the entire shareholding of its erstwhile partner. Both companies held equal shares in the JV and, following the transaction, NPI will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of NC.
The existing generic products being manufactured and supplied from Ranbaxy's manufacturing plants, in India, will continue to be supplied to NC, for some time, to enable a smooth transition.
