Reactor vessel installed at Shin-Kori plant in South Korea

3 August 2011: The second APR-1400 reactor pressure vessel for unit 4 of South Korea's Shin-Kori nuclear power plant has been installed on 18 July.

The component measures 14.8 mtrs high with an internal diameter of 4.7 mtrs and weighs some 533 tonne. It was designed by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and supplied by Doosan Heavy Industries. The unit is scheduled to begin commercial operation in September 2014.

Also, the company plans to build two more of the 1350 MWe pressurized water reactors for construction at Shin-Ulchin which are likely to be operated in 2016 and 2017.
