Shaw bags order from Holtec arm
26 May 2011: The Shaw Group Inc has bagged an order from SMR, LLC, a subsidiary of Holtec International, to provide phase one engineering support services for a new 140-MW small modular nuclear power reactor, the Holtec Inherently Safe Modular Underground Reactor (HI-SMUR). However, value of the contract has not been disclosed.
Shaw will develop the conceptual design of the balance of plant and support systems to advance the HI-SMUR toward eventual commercial application. Shaw also will prepare an overall design basis, support licensing activities and evaluate plant layouts and optimization of plant output.
