Solar Semiconductor to set up facilities in US, Canada

9 December 2009: Solar Semiconductor, a photovoltaic module (PV) maker, is likely to expand its manufacturing facilities with new bases in the US and Canada.

However, the company has not disclosed investment details for the proposed facilities.

The company is also looking at Europe, especially Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Greece. It will explore options in West Asia, Bulgaria and Czech Republic.

The company that has two units in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh (Kompally and FabCity) is also diversifying into solar energy-based products, to meet consumer needs both in urban and rural markets. It has spent up to Rs 200 crore in FabCity and has a total installed capacity of 200 MW and order book full for 2010 from customers in Germany, Europe and the US.
