US nod for Aurobindo's generic version of Effexor
19 April 2011: Aurobindo Pharma has got approval from the US Food & Drug Administration for its ANDA on Venlafaxine hydrochloride extended release capsules of 37.5 mg, 75 mg and 150 mg. They are the generic equivalent of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc's Effexor capsules of the same dosages, the company said in a notice to the BSE today. The drug is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and falls under the neurological therapeutic category.
