Central Ministry to review fertiliser policy

14 November 2011: The ministry of chemicals & fertilisers is planning to re-examine the current policy on nutrient-based subsidy having concern over the doubling of fertiliser prices within a year. If needed it is also ready to take up the issue with the Prime Minister.

Decontrol of prices in the case of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and potash in April, 2010 has led to the increase in prices. Weakening of the rupee against the US dollar and a rise in global prices have also led to increase in the fertiliser prices in the last one year.
