Food inflation drops down for third week in a row
20 January 2012: Food inflation remained in the negative territory for the third week in a row at (-) 0.42 per cent for the week ended 7 January 2012 . The main reason for the positive news on the food inflation front has been the falling onion and vegetable prices. For the corresponding week last year, food inflation was above 16 per cent. In the previous week, it was (-) 2.9 per cent. Onion prices were down 75.42 per cent year-on-year during the week under review, while potato prices were down 23.84 per cent.
