GCCI sets up research unit to help industries

16 November 2011: The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), the apex body of trade and commerce in the state, has set up a research unit for preparing authentic data and reports on various industries. Moreover, this unit will also conduct research on behalf of small industries. Although GCCI is the apex body of trade and industry in the state, it had to depend on either the state government or private research firms for authentic data of any industry. This is why it has established a dedicated research unit to collect authentic data of various sectors. The data collected by the research unit will help the chamber to make a representation to the state government on various issues. “If you have concrete information and your point is valid then there is no need to clash with the state government and the issue can be resolved on the table.The research team will also conduct research on behalf of private firms as well as prepare exclusive reports for which the chamber will charge money. Moreover, the chamber is eyeing government research projects so that more revenue can be generated. “Our aim is to make this unit self-reliant in five years.
