Andhra Sugars starts supplying liquid hydrogen to ISRO
31 January 2012: Andhra Sugars has started supply of liquid hydrogen, cryogenic fuel to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Liquid hydrogen is used as a propellant in the Geostationary Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) by the national space agency. GSLV is used in placing bigger satellites in a stationery orbit. India is testing its capabilities in this area.
In ISRO's satellite launch vehicle's solid propellant is used in the first stage, liquid propellant in the second stage and cryogenic propellant in the third stage of GSLV. All these propellants are now manufactured by Andhra Sugars.
