NTPC plans new thermal power plant in UP

June 04, 2007: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will set up a thermal power plant of 1,320 MW and add fresh capacity of 1,320 MW to its existing 4x110 MW Tanda thermal power plant in Ambedkarnagar.

The new thermal power plant is likely to be set up at Shankargarh in Kaushambi near Allahabad and will be a joint venture between the UP government and NTPC.

The state's total installed capacity is 4,087 MW and average generation is 2,500 MW of thermal power and 300 MW of hydel power.
