Upgraded Talkatora stadium opened
25 February 2010: On 24 February 2010, Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi, inaugurated the upgraded Talkatora Indoor Stadium. A sports facility block was also inaugurated.
The stadium, which will host the Commonwealth boxing championship, has been upgraded with state-of-the-art facilities like an acoustic ceiling, score boards, video screens, sports lighting and CCTV cameras and has a seating capacity for 2,700 people.
The sports facility block has been constructed with recyclable construction material and fly ash bricks. Heat reflective glass has been used for the rain water harvesting provision has also been included in this green building.
After the games, the complex will be used for socio-cultural and official purposes.
