Work on laying road to tribal hamlets commences

23 August 2010: Work has begun for laying a road for the benefit of thousands of tribals living in nearly 10 hamlets at Tholampalayam Panchayat in Karamadai block of Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu, on 21 August 2010.

The road will be laid from Seenguli to Vadakkalur for a distance of 2.5 km with 11 minor bridges and one at the ground level. The laying of the road at a cost of Rs. 1.26 crore with minor bridges will help the tribals avoid entering Kerala for reaching Coimbatore and also avoid the ordeal of crossing the river. The travel distance will come down by 8.5 km.

Tribals living in hamlets such as Seenguli, Puliyur, Sengattayur, Pattasalai, Colonypudur, Kattasalai, Alankattipudur and Gopanari will be benefitted, especially those going to schools and colleges and those going out for work.
