Abu Dhabi's National Drilling acquires offshore rigs

19 October 2011: Abu Dhabi-based National Drilling has signed an agreement with UAE-based rig specialist Lamprell to expand its fleet of jackup oil rigs. Under the $333.3m (Dhs1.2bn) deal, Lamprell is to build two new rigs as an extension of an existing construction contract between the two firms. Scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2014, the rigs commissioned by National Drilling are triangular hulls with three 310ft legs and are capable of drilling in water up to 200ft deep.
