Al Rahji, Saudi Oger finalizes Madinah airport privatization deal

3 November 2011: Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has signed a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract with a consortium led by Turkish group TAV Airports for Madinah Airport, the first airport privatisation deal in the kingdom. In addition to TAV, the consortium comprises partners Al Rahji and Saudi Oger. The airport's civil works are set to commence in the first half of 2012, to be completed in three years. The consortium will operate the airport until 2037. The capacity of Madinah Airport will be raised to 8 million passengers per year by increasing the capacity of the existing airport through a new terminal building, apron and fast exit roads.
