Bushehr nuclear power plant ready for launch
16 August 2011: Iran and Russia have emphasized that the Bushehr nuclear power plant is ready for final launch in August which will be connected to the national grid.
The plant, which is located near the port city of Bushehr on the coast of the Persian Gulf, will produce 1000 MW of electricity once it becomes fully operational.
The reactor will reach 40 per cent of its power and will be connected to the grid soon. Russian energy minister Sergei Shmatko and Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) director general Sergei Kirienko are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Bushehr nuclear plant.
