Dubai Airports set to cross 50mn milestone
31 December 2011: Dubai Airports is on track to surpass its historical figure of 50 million in annual traffic this year as it recorded an 8.9 per cent year-on-year passenger growth in November. The owner of world’s fourth busiest airport, Dubai International has revealed that, year-to-date passenger traffic in January-November 2011 reached 46.29 million last month, reflecting an increase of 7.8 per cent over the corresponding period last year. The passenger traffic in November reached 4.43 million compared to 4.07 million recorded during the same month in 2010.
The AGCC region recorded the largest increase in total passenger numbers in November followed by the Indian subcontinent, Russia and the CIS, and Western Europe. However, the contraction in traffic on Middle Eastern routes continued last month. Aircraft movements in November also increased 8.5 per cent to 29,093 from 26,823 in the same month last year.
