Egypt unveils wind farms tender offer
15 November 2011: Egyptian government is to launch a tender offer for the installation of wind farms on the Gulf of Suez with a capacity of 200 MW. The wind power plant, scheduled to start work in April 2014, is estimated to cost $500 million(approx Rs 2,500 crore), with contributions from the European Investment Bank and the European Commission. The tender represent the second and third phases of the expansion of Egypt's wind farming plans under a renewable energy programme.
