Etihad Rail project to award new contracts

19 November 2011: Etihad Rail' s contracting process for the second and largest stage of the $10.89bn national rail system is set to start in the next few weeks. The second stage involves building around 600km of the 1,200km network, as well as linking the system from Abu Dhabi to the Jebel Ali port in Dubai and extending it to the Saudi and Omani borders. A request for proposals is expected to be issued soon, with the first contracts set to be awarded by the second quarter of next year.
