General Motors, SAIC plans to build electric vehicles in China
22 September 2011: General Motors with its Chinese partner SAIC Motor Corporation by developing and producing electric vehicles in the Asian country. Under the agreement, General Motors and SAIC will be allowed eventually offer electric vehicles that qualify for Chinese green subsidies, something General Motors's Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid electric car doesn't qualify for since it is not built in China.
