Iraq in electricity deal with Turkey's Enka
17 January 2011: Iraq has been signing of a $235m electricity deal with a subsidiary of Turkey's Enka Isaat to install a 500 MW plant to help boost generation in the southern part of the country. The Turkish firm is to install four gas units, each with a production capacity of 125 MW in the al-Najibiya district in Iraq's southern oil hub, Basra. The green-field project will be financed by the local government of Basra and will be allocated to Basra province only.
