Iraq railway gets approval for the establishment of railway line
23 August 2011: The Jordanian government has formally approved the establishment of a 500 km railway line from the port of Aqaba to the Iraqi border near Traibil.
Iraq has already begun the construction of the railway line from the Ramadi to the border in order to meet up with the Jordanian side of the line. The railway will speed up the direct connection between Iraq and Jordan in order to support commercial and industrial cooperation between the two countries. Also, Iraq is looking to build an integrated transport link with the regional countries through the dry canal that links the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf.
