Jordan, Qatar to form gas supply task force

11 January 2012: A technical committee has been formed by Jordan and Qatar to work out how the kingdom could receive natural gas supplies from the Gulf country, reducing its dependence on Egyptian gas. The Jordan has agreed with the Qatar to form the task force, which will examine prospects for supplying Qatari LNG to Jordan via the port of Aqaba on Jordan's Red Sea coast. Aqaba does not currently have LNG receiving and regasification facilities, and these will have to be built along with other infrastructure such as gas storage facilities and pipelines, Abu-Qura noted.
