KPC, Sinopec commences construction on refining and petrochemical complex
21 November 2011: Kuwait Petroleum Corp and China Petroleum and Chemical Corp (Sinopec) have started building their joint refining and petrochemical complex in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. The $9.3bn project, including a 300,000-barrel-per-day refinery and a 1-million-tonne-per-year ethylene cracking unit, is expected to come on line in 2015. KPC is still looking to partner with an international oil company for some of its 50% stake in the project in Zhanjiang.
