New Energy Transformation Plants to Support Syria Electricity System

23 November 2011: With a total cost of SYP 875 million two electricity energy transformation plants were put in service to supply the old City of Aleppo and al-Ashrafieh district and its neighborhoods with power. The capacity of the two stations reached 60 megavolt ampere with a tension of (66) 20 kV. The plant aims at improving the reliability of the electricity network in the region and reducing overload on the neighboring plants.

The two centers aim at reducing loads on the electricity network, supporting the electricity network and meeting the citizens' demand in the two areas as they added 120 mw to electricity system in Aleppo Province. Earlier, Qatana 66-20 kV electricity transformation plant in Damascus was put in service with a capacity of 60 mw with a total cost reached SYP 350 million.
