Plan to build railway to Yemen under GCC network

25 February 2010: The Technical and Finance Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council is mulling over a plan to build a railway to Yemen and link it to the proposed Gulf railway from Kuwait to Oman.

However, the committee is likely to discuss the Yemen link only after addressing various aspects of the GCC railway project. This is expected to take the form of a JV to oversee work on the 1,940 km line which will link Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE and Oman.
