Qatar General Electricity awards contract to Doha Cables
23 August 2011: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corp (Kahramaa) has awarded Doha Cables a QR1.8bn ($494 million) contract, as the Gulf Arab state tries to meet rapidly growing power demand which is forecast to hit 8 GW by 2013. The cable manufacturer in Qatar will double its production capacity from a current 40,000 tonne of copper annually to fulfill the contract to supply low and medium voltage power cables.
