Qatar gas project seeks loan
24 August 2011: Qatar Petroleum and Exxon Mobil are looking forward to receive proposals by the end of August from international, regional and local banks on a $4.7bn(approx Rs 2, 1385 crore), syndicated loan backing the Barzan gas project. The bankers will provide the largest internationally syndicated loan from Qatar in three years. The 16-year amortising loan totalling $4.7bn is split between a $2bn (approx Rs 8, 900 crore) uncovered loan and $2.7bn (approx Rs 12, 0195 crore) of financing from export credit agencies (ECA), which includes a mixture of covered bank and direct lending.
