Qatar plans to award major World Cup contract soon
19 October 2011: Qatar plans to award a management contract soon to oversee construction projects for the 2022 FIFA World Cup football tournament. It is a lump sum contract for 13 years, and will be awarded to one team comprising about 50 people. A lot of firms have teamed up with each other, to make sure they have the best quality resources. It is a big deal, so the usual suspects are pitching for it. More than six companies are vying for the contract including UK construction consultants Arup, Mace and Turner International.
