SEC plans to launch Saudi's first solar power plant

4 October 2011: The Saudi Electricity Co (SEC) has planned to launch the kingdom's first solar-powered electricity-generating power station. Located on Farasan Island, in the kingdom's southern region, the plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 864,000 kilowatt hours.
