Sezai Turkes-Feyzi Akkaya wins Bid Bid-Sur road project
17 August 2011: Sezai Turkes-Feyzi Akkaya (STFA) won a major road construction contract on 15 August 2011 worth RO 117.5 million.
The 75 km-long dual carriageway (to convert the existing two-lane carriageway into four lanes) project is package I-B of Bid-Bid-Sur project. The scope of work includes 75 km of dualisation, 50km of service road and nine interchanges for alignment. The Ministry of Transport and Communications is overseeing the project for easing traffic in the 200km Sur-Bid Bid sector. Of the 200km, the first package (A and B) between Bid Bid and Ibra covers 120km, while design is completed for the remaining 80km between Ibra and Sur. The Tender Board is expected to float another contract inviting bids from contracting firms for the remaining 80km.
