Bangladesh eyes no deal with Qatar

30 December 2010: According to sources, six months have passed after Bangladesh reached an understanding for import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar, but no formal deal could be signed yet in this regard.

Qatar agreed in principle in June this year to sign a deal for export of about 3.5 billion cubic feet equivalent natural gas per week in liquid form to meet Bangladesh’s demand. The understanding was reached following the visit of a Bangladesh delegation led by Energy Secretary Mohammad Mesbauddin, which completed initial negotiation with the Qatar government.
