Bombardier bags order from Pakistan railways
6 February 2010: Bombardier Transportation, in consortium with China Railway Signal & Communication Corp (CRSC), has bagged an order Pakistan Railways (PR) to deliver the BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 200 mainline signalling solution on the Bin Qasim to Mirpur Mathelo Double Line Section of the Karachi-Lahore line in Pakistan.
The contract is valued at approximately 410 million SEK (41 million euros or $57 million US). It has Bombardier’s share amounting to approximately 278 million SEK (27 million euros or $38 million US).
Bombardier is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the modern signalling system on a turn-key basis for the 328 km line which includes 23 stations. The scope will include Bombardier’s globally installed EBI Lock 950 computer-based interlocking (CBI) and EBI Screen 2000 control centre systems. This is the first in the planned upgrade of the Karachi-Lahore line to modernise the signalling systems in Pakistan and will be the first electronic interlockings to be delivered in Pakistan.
INTERFLO 200 signalling solutions are typically used for busy, high speed networks, where headways are reduced and higher safety levels are required. INTERFLO 200 can be complemented with a national automatic train protection (ATP) system and can later be upgraded to European Rail Traffic Management system (ERTMS) operation. INTERFLO 200 has been installed extensively across the world in countries including Brazil, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Thailand.
