Ceylon Electricity Board to conduct a performance test of Lakvijaya coal power plant
Sri Lanka's power authority, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has planned to conduct a performance test soon in the Lakvijaya coal power plant in Norochcholai. During the period of closure, the desulphurization unit which was disrupted by a recent fire erupted in the plant is also to be reinstalled.
The plans are to mark the official handing over of the power plant to the Sri Lankan government by the builders of the plant, China Machineries and Engineering Corporation. The same company is handling the second phase of the project. The second phase is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2013 and is expected to inject 600 MW to the national grid.
